The Aligned Center

Our friends at the Westchester Meditation Center are hosting a course, Walking in the Footsteps of the Buddha.

Walking in the Footsteps of the Buddha is a year-long foundation-level course in 3 semesters (Fall 2021, Winter 2022, Spring/Summer 2022). Join us for Semester Two where we reflect on “Transforming  Suffering into Compassion—Insight, Egolessness, and Buddha Nature,” as we continue to explore the path of mindfulness-awareness meditation and insight as originally described by the Buddha and skillfully transmitted to the West by one of the great Tibetan masters of our time. We will cover topics fundamental to the Buddhist teachings such as the Four Noble Truths, the Noble Eightfold Path, the Three Yana Path, the Buddhist Refuge, and the Bodhisattva path of compassion in the Mahayana, focusing on the techniques and stages of meditation and bringing meditation into our daily lives.

Students may enroll for the remaining two semesters (Winter and Spring/Summer 2022), enroll for the Winter semester only, or attend individual classes on a “drop-in’ basis.

Readings are from a wide variety of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s writings, which will be provided in a digital source book.  Each class will begin with 30 minutes of meditation, followed by facilitated discussion on the topics covered in the readings.

Audio recordings of all classes, including both talk and discussion, will be available online.

This series is recommended for both experienced practitioners and for those just getting started and is designed to benefit participants whether or not they attend regularly.

The course will be given in three semesters, each with twelve class sessions:

  1. Fall Semester — Discovering Sanity through the Path of Meditation
  2. Winter Semester — Transforming  Suffering into Compassion—Insight, Egolessness, and Buddha Nature
  3. Spring Semester — Treading the Path of Wisdom and Compassion

Walking in the Footsteps of the Buddha
