SUMMARY:Regenerative Connections™ Series (Workshop 2): Patterns that Connect and Disconnect
DESCRIPTION:Tara Bennett-Goleman and Daniel Goleman Present Patterns that Connect and Disconnect\nSeptember 28 & 29 (tw0-day workshop) \nWe invite you to join us as we explore ways ancient wisdom and modern psychology regenerates connections of all kinds.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur emotional habits can connect us or keep us at a distance from ourselves and others. When these habits activate we react to symbolic threats as though they were real – e.g.\, the fear of abandonment triggers exaggerated fearfulness and thoughts of losing someone. Even if they may not make rational sense\, these patterns have an emotional reality; understanding them can yield insights in our own and others’ vulnerabilities and help us respond with empathy\, understanding\, and caring. \nWhen we believe their skewed messages these habits can shape how we think\, feel\, act and relate. We can become aware of these learned emotional habits and their expression\, such as clinging or avoidance. When they act as invisible lenses\, they distort our view rather than letting us see ourselves and each other as we genuinely are. \nReparative interventions from ancient wisdom traditions and modern psychology can allow for insight and connection rather than confusion and reactivity. \nRegenerative qualities\, including insight\, equanimity and a warm and caring heart\, can lead us to an inner calm and wiser perspective\, even as we sense the signals of these emotional habits. We can embrace underlying unsettling feelings with care\, kindness\, and a non-judgmental awareness that can help to free our minds and hearts. \nIn addition to modern and ancient psychologies we will draw on findings from neuroscience\, in a combination of lecture\, discussion and experiences. \nThese include mapping these learned emotional habits and ways to sense their activation\, calm our reactivity\, and repatterning for healthier responses. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn Workshop 2 We Will Learn To:\n \n Widen the gap between emotional impulse and action\, to make wiser choices \n Transform emotional patterns that separate into ones that connect \n Increase clarity and empathic understanding \n Allow for transformative insights into our habits of mind and heart. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn more and register HERE. \n  \nWorkshop Series Schedule\n \nThe Arts\, Science and Practice of Meditation\nJune 29\, 2024 \nPatterns that Connect and Disconnect\nSeptember 28 and 29 \nWidening the Circle of Caring\nNovember 16 and 17

SUMMARY:Regenerative Connections™ Series (Workshop 3): Widening the Circle of Caring
DESCRIPTION:Tara Bennett-Goleman and Daniel Goleman Present Widening the Circle of Caring\nNovember 16 & 17 (tw0-day workshop) \nWe invite you to join us as we explore ways ancient wisdom and modern psychology regenerates connections of all kinds.\nJust as we fertilize plants in a garden\, we can nurture qualities of awareness and compassion to both enrich our own being and also to benefit others. As findings from social neuroscience tell us\, emotions are contagious. Regenerating inner qualities like warmheartedness\, understanding and calmness can have a soothing influence on those around us. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSeeing your emotional patterns at work and bringing them into awareness allows us to be sensitive to recognizing these vulnerabilities in others. These patterns operate at the collective level as well. As we clear emotional and cognitive obscurations we increasingly connect with the minds natural qualities and a genuine sense of interconnection. We will continue to explore how reparative Eastern and Western psychological perspectives and practices can nurture regenerative connections of all kinds.  \nWe’ll share real life cases in point. We’ll hear from our collaborator Aaron Wolf about transformation with groups who disagree but come together to manage a river system. We’ll also share how young changemakers create a sense of trust and belonging -regenerating their connection with each other – while being in service to others. We’ll also hear about our friend and mentor\, the late Dr. Ariyaratne of Sri Lanka\, a model of selfless service who founded Sarvodaya\, an altruistic grassroots community development movement that helps neighbors work together for common goals. \nAs Dr. Ari said\, “We cannot solve one problem independently; everything is interconnected…for this we need to heal the mind\, to transform our thinking”. We will explore regenerative solutions and how we each can contribute our unique ability to act on interests like the environment\,  social concerns\, and simple acts of caring in our everyday lives. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn Workshop 3 You Will Learn To:\n \n Build a toolbox of skill ways to being clear\, non-reactive communication to your relationships \n Explore how to engage in difficult conversations\, including ways we ourselves can work more collaboratively \n Use recognition of emotional patterns to relate from a clear space rather than a reactive one \n Communicate more skillfully and authentically\, rather than through the distorted filters of our emotional habits \n Work through differences from a place of connection. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn more and register HERE.

SUMMARY:EngageAsia Presents The Vow from Hiroshima - In Person
DESCRIPTION:Join our friends\, EngageAsia at The Aligned Center as they host a special in-person event featuring a screening of the powerful documentary\, The Vow from Hiroshima.   Following the screening\, stick around for a thought-provoking panel discussion with Susan Strickler (Director & Producer) and Mitchie Takeuchi (Writer & Producer). The event promises to be an enlightening and engaging experience. \nThe Vow From Hiroshima is a poignant documentary that delves into the life of Setsuko Thurlow\, a remarkable survivor of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima. At just 13 years old when the bomb devastated her city in 1945\, Setsuko’s harrowing experience is vividly captured in this intimate portrait. The film chronicles her enduring friendship with second-generation survivor Mitchie Takeuchi\, offering a moving narrative of resilience and determination. \nSetsuko’s story is one of tragedy and triumph\, as she recalls being pulled from a burning building after the bomb’s impact\, unable to save her 27 classmates who perished in the flames. This pivotal moment shaped her lifelong commitment to ensuring that no one else would suffer the same horrific fate. \nThrough decades of tireless activism\, Setsuko’s journey culminates in a powerful milestone – the realization of her dream with the establishment of a Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2017. Setsuko made the acceptance speech in Oslo\, Norway. \nFunds raised will support both EngageAsia as well as the From Hiroshima to the Heartlands project that will enable the film to be shown in-person throughout the United States. Tickets are non-refundable as this is a philanthropic event to support our important charitable work. Attire is business casual. \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER AND LEARN MORE
