SUMMARY:One-Day Meditation Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join the Westchester Meditation Center for this special one-day program designed for beginning and aspiring meditators\, as well as people who want to deepen their meditation practice. The workshop will include talks\, practice sessions\, and guided meditations that support building a daily practice with compassion and openness. This workshop will be led by one of WMC’s three senior teachers\, Jane Kolleeny. \nWMC is dedicated to diversity\, equity\, inclusion\, and fostering belonging for all. Everyone is invited. Differences and unique perspectives are embraced. \nThe meditation technique taught in this workshop was developed by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche (1939-87)\, a Tibetan Buddhist meditation teacher who offered a uniquely different form from other forms of meditation and in many ways contrary to the usual notions about meditation. His view was that “meditation is a process of working through our self-deception.” Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche was a highly accomplished meditation master\, scholar\, translator\, poet\, and artist. He taught extensively in North America during the last seventeen years of his life and authored dozens of books based on hundreds of talks given on a broad array of topics. Yet\, sometimes our attempts to balance humbleness and heroism on the path of wakefulness leave us ineffective\, mistaken\, or create more difficulties\, despite our best efforts.  With a genuine understanding of The Way of the Bodhisattva\, the Venerable Ringu Tulku is especially equipped to inspire our awakened hearts and minds and share his wisdom on how we can maintain these qualities in harmony. \nRingu Tulku Rinpoche is a Tibetan Buddhist teacher of the Kagyu lineage. He was trained by many great teachers including H.H. the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa and Dilgo Khyentse\, Rinpoche. He received his formal education at Namgyal Institute of Tibetology and Sampurnananda Sanskrit University and has served as a Professor of Tibetology in Sikkim for 17 years. Since 1990 Rinpoche has been traveling and teaching Buddhism throughout the world. He has authored many books on Buddhism and founded Bodhicharya\, an organization that coordinates activities to preserve and transmit Buddhist teachings and promote intercultural dialogues and educational projects.
