SUMMARY:Walking in the Footsteps of the Buddha with the Westchester Meditation Center
DESCRIPTION:Our friends at the Westchester Meditation Center are hosting a course\, Walking in the Footsteps of the Buddha. \nWalking in the Footsteps of the Buddha is a year-long foundation-level course in 3 semesters (Fall 2021\, Winter 2022\, Spring/Summer 2022). Join us for Semester Three\, Treading the Path of Wisdom and Compassion\, as we continue to explore the path of mindfulness-awareness meditation and insight as originally described by the Buddha and skillfully transmitted to the West by one of the great Tibetan masters of our time\, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. In this semester we reflect on the entire range of the Mahayana path of the bodhisattva\, focusing on the practice of transcendent compassionate activity and the cultivation of wisdom\, which altogether make up what is called “relative bodhicitta.” This includes the practice of tonglen (exchanging self and other)\, the bodhisattva vow\, the six paramitas\, emptiness\, and the path of the Mahayana. We will focus on the techniques and stages of meditation and bringing meditation into our daily lives.  \nStudents may enroll for the remaining semester (Spring/Summer 2022) or attend individual classes on a “drop-in’ basis. \nReadings are from a wide variety of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s writings\, which will be provided in a digital source book.  Each class will begin with 30 minutes of meditation\, followed by facilitated discussion on the topics covered in the readings.   \nAudio recordings of all classes\, including both talk and discussion\, will be available online. \nThis series is recommended for both experienced practitioners and for those just getting started and is designed to benefit participants whether or not they attend regularly.  \n  \nWalking in the Footsteps of the Buddha \nThis course is for students of all levels. \nIn-person and virtual drop-ins welcome \nA foundation-level course like this one\, or its equivalent in study and practice\, is a prerequisite for the intermediate and advanced level courses at WMC. \n  \nPURCHASE SOURCEBOOK \nNote that WMC maintains a policy of making our programs affordable to all. Those with limited income please offer what you can afford. \nREGISTER HERE \nSundays\, 12:30 – 2:30 pm ET \nStarting April 24\, 2022 \nIn person at The Aligned Center and by Zoom \nCost: By donation to Westchester Meditation Center

SUMMARY:The Chemistry of Connection
DESCRIPTION:Connection begins within and radiates out to create a greater sense of interconnection to everything around us. By exploring these interrelated dimensions – the inner\, the interpersonal\, and the larger world – we can awaken a greater awareness\, compassion\, and ease of communication in relationships of all kinds. In any encounter\, we can become more aware of what obscures the genuine bond we seek – and work through our differences from a place of connection. \nWhen we’re operating at our best\, we’re connected to ourselves and to others. In this shared secure mode we feel seen and heard\, respected and cared for\, with a sense of trust and belonging. \nThis workshop with renowned authors and teachers Tara Bennett Goleman\, Daniel Goleman\, Aaron Wolf\, and Seema Mehta and Jason Samuels Smith will allow us to understand\, internalize\, and ultimately better live this chemistry of connection with those around us.
