Women's Enterprise Development Center

The Women’s Enterprise Development Center (WEDC), a local nonprofit organization serving Westchester and the Hudson Valley since 1997, empowers female entrepreneurs to build successful small businesses.

WEDC’s overarching goal is to build a vibrant community of women business owners, comprised of both start-up and established companies; it also opens doors to business ownership for low-to-moderate income women and minorities by providing comprehensive, high-quality business training programs, one-on-one business and loan counseling, networking opportunities, assistance with loan applications and crowd-funding, and MWBE certification assistance in both English and Spanish.

In 2003, the WEDC became the designated United States Small Business Administration (SBA) Women’s Business Center for Westchester County and the Lower Hudson Valley, New York. In 2008, WEDC became a New York Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC) Entrepreneurial Assistance Program (EAP) Center. And in 2015, WEDC opened a second EAP Center in Mid-Hudson.

WEDC also serves specialized populations including mature adults 50+, child care providers, survivors of domestic violence, veterans, and dislocated workers. In 2001, WEDC began offering programs and counseling in Spanish. All WEDC programs and services are available to men.
