Sunday Open House Meditation Gathering hosted by the Westchester Mediation Center
Please join us on Sunday mornings for a community gathering involving meditation practice, discussion, and readings. We gather to meditate for two 20-minute sessions with a walk and/or stretch in between, then listen to an inspiring reading, and have a group discussion. This program is open to everyone. No registration is required. No experience is needed. Guidance on the technique of meditation is available to anyone interested or new to practice.
The theme for Winter/Spring 2024 is Taking the Leap: Freeing Ourselves from Old Habits and Fears. When life’s events challenge us, we frequently default to old habits and emotional states. Meditation helps us discover that while we will never be able to completely control our world, we can train our minds to meet and accept life just as it is, in the present moment. Pema Chodron’s book is about awakening the essential qualities of natural intelligence, natural warmth, and natural openness that help us to take a bold leap toward a new way of living—one that will bring about positive transformation for ourselves and for our troubled world. Meditation guides us to meet our minds, embrace the fullness of our experience, and live a wholehearted life.
