The Battle of Science and Spirituality in the Western World

June 6 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm EDT

Jeff Carreira

In the development of Western history we see evidence that seems to show that there exists two different types of human temperaments. One is romantic, artistic, and spiritual, the other is factual, logical, and scientific – and they often see things very differently. In this presentation and discussion you will discover how at the very start of Western philosophy a fundamental division was set in place because Plato was a dreamer, and his student Aristotle was a scientist. This split in our psyche propagated through the entire history of Western philosophy and now in modern times we see it in the deep-seated clash between science and religion.

Join this event held live at The Aligned Center and streamed online via zoom video conferencing, to take a fascinating journey through some of the ways that human beings have attempted to understand what we know, how we know it, and why it matters. You will see that inside yourself you have both a scientist and a romantic. One that is a champion of the supremacy of facts gained through objective evidence, and one that trusts their own inner revelations and creative impulses above anything else.

This is an in-person and online event.
